We will run my child when we have to,
walk at your own pace for now.
Pick up every dried leaf you wish to,
observe the colours on the snail or on a bough.
Make up stories and play games as we walk,
sing with me or like a rat, make me talk.
Complain when I tell you to walk faster.
Don't let deadlines rule you, chose to be your own master.
We will run when we have to my child
walk at your own pace for now.
When you can start spelling deadlines and schedule,
that is when I will tell you again not to be a mule.
I will remind you to observe the things that don't matter,
and make sure we never stop our constant natter.
I will repeat even then what I say to you today,
don't let this world take your spirit away.
We will run my child someday, if we ever have to
find our own pace till then.
